BMW E30 325i FIA Group A Homologation Form A-5292

November 4, 2026
By

This is the original FIA homologation form for the E30 BMW 325i, A-5292. Homologation papers are the official record of a car as built, and they decide what may be raced and which competition parts are allowed. The form was issued by the FISA through the German ONS and was valid in Group A from 1 February 1986.

The scan runs to 40 pages: the 16-page base form plus twelve extensions added between 1986 and 1992. Those cover extra final drives, competition brakes, centre-lock wheels, roll cages and the facelift. The original form is bilingual German/English, and everything below is taken from the English parts.

2,494 ccM20 straight six, Bosch Motronic 84 × 75 mmBore × stroke, max bore 84.1 mm 1 Feb 1986Valid from, Group A 12Extensions, 1986 to 1992

Highlights

  • Getrag 5-speed with a 3.64:1 final drive, plus 16 more final drive ratios from 2.93 to 5.44:1 added by extension
  • A homologated close-ratio dog-leg gearbox with a 2.31 first gear
  • Competition parts: 5-lug hubs, centre-lock wheels, 4-piston aluminium calipers, vented discs up to 330 mm, twin master cylinders with a balance bar, and 15.5:1 steering
  • The 4-door body is homologated as an option, and the 1988 update adds the facelift car and a 64 litre fuel tank
  • Aluminium roll cages were homologated in 1986 and cancelled in 1992
