Other than a coolant leak around the heater core, most wet carpets are a byproduct of the water drains being clogged. The water has nowhere to drain and backs up and flows into where it shouldn’t; either your interior or settles and causes moisture/rust where it shouldn’t.
The good news is that cleaning the drains is fairly simple and easy.
Elephant trunk: This drain tube quite literally just pops off and back on.
Sunroof Drains: There are two drain holes, one on each corner when you open your sunroof.
To clean out the sunroof drain, you’ll need something in the 5-6mm thickness range. Compressed air, weed wacker wire or anything else thin is unlikely to dislodge a substantial clog.
The best thing to use is a 8AWG wire, its outer diameter is in the 5.4mm range; 8AWG wire is cheap, appropriately flexible, hefty, and can be purchased in a sufficient length (recommend you purchase a 2 Meter length). Best suited to purchase wire that is PVC or THHN so it slides easier.
