The E30 is provisioned for two trunk lights, but only in very rare circumstances was it actually ever fitted with both. On all North American E30’s, there is only one trunk illumination light, normally a 5W festoon bulb.

Provisioned in this context means, that there is already a cut out in the trunk to receive an additional lens. You will need to create the wiring to facilitate the install.

To create the wiring adapter, you will need 6.3mm spade connectors both male and female.

*Leave yourself enough length, better to be a bit longer then not.

On the positive side, its best to place some kind of plastic shield over the pin, because when you remove the lens to change the bulb, if the positive touches the trunk lid, it will blow a fuse.

Note that there are two lens PN’s for the lens. One houses a 5W and the other a 10W festoon. Both lens fit, and are completely interchangeable.
