Basically when you get Smilies they just bolt up without an issue EXCEPT for wiring.
From sealed beams: The sealed beams have a 3 prong connector 2 of the wires are ground and one is power. While the euro connector is 1 power and 1 ground, all you need to do is take the extra ground and shrink wrap it or tape it off, and use solder one power and one ground.
* Use a volt meter to determine which is ground/power
From US Ellipsoids all you need to do is cut the old connectors and solder new connectors. For the city lights you should splice into the side markers so they go on when your side markers go on rather then when your low beams or high beams go on.
When going from sealed beams to Euro’s you might notice that your low beams go off when your high beams go on which is not as before. To make both light stay on you need to jump pins #30 together from the high to the low beam relays:
If you dont have the Euro connectors yet these are the ones you need:
White Connector 61-13-1-378-417
Grey Connector 61-13-1-378-418
Yellow Connector 61-13-1-378-419
Circular Connector 1.0-2.5 MM² 61-13-0-007-446
(This is the bigger wire & recommended)
Circular Connector 0.5-1.0 MM ² 61 –13-0-007-445
(This is the smaller wire)
great article. thanks!
wanted to add that since the grey connector (61-13-1-378-418) is currently NLA, it can be replaced with connector 61-13-1-378-402 (verified the connectors match). i believe 61-13-0-007-444 is the 1.0-22.5 MM² wire for this connector, but i have not verified this yet.
